Wipro - An Overview of the Company and Its Selection Procedure


WIPRO (Western India Products Ltd) is an Indian multinational IT Consulting and System Integration company headquartered in Bangalore. In 2014, the company had 147,452 employees on roll, who were servicing 900 large enterprises and Fortune 1000 companies in 61 countries. In order to focus on core IT Business, it hived off its non-IT business into a separate company named Wipro Enterprises Ltd, which offers consumer care, lighting, healthcare and infrastructure engineering.

The company was incorporated in 1945 in Mumbai as Western India Vegetable Products Limited', abbreviated to 'Wipro'. In 1966, Azim Premji took over Wipro as its chairman at the age of 21 after his return from Stanford University. The year 1980 marked Wipro’s entry in the IT domain. Today, Wipro is a global provider of comprehensive IT solutions, including Systems Integration, Consulting, Information Systems outsourcing, IT-enabled services, and R&D services.

WIPRO Selection Process

WIPRO is one of the most preferred employers in the IT domain. The Wipro Selection Process consists of 3 rounds, which are as follows:
A. Written Exam   B. Technical Interview       C. HR Interview
                                                          
Wipro Test Pattern

The total time allotted in the Wipro written test is 1 hour without any negative marking. In the Wipro written test, the English part contains questions on short reading comprehension passages, fill in the blanks, paragraph completion, errors, vocabulary, etc.

In the Quantitative Ability part, one finds algebra, time work, speed-distance-time, arithmetic, percentages, profit and loss, geometry, etc. One has to move fast in this part as it has many questions. You may also some problems based on puzzles, blood relations, statements & arguments, coding and decoding, and data interpretation, etc.

The Technical segment in the Wipro written test has questions on Data structure, Operating System, C & C++ programming, JAVA, LINUX, Optical Fibre, DBMS, Microprocessors, etc. This part is slightly tough and requires good understanding of technical concepts. Only those who pass it can sit for the interviews.
